SPAM filters are managed by your company's IT Department using dedicated SPAM software such as Symantec Messaging Gateway, Mailwasher, Mcafee Anti-Spam, and others. This gives your organization complete control over what content is, and is not, forwarded to SEDNA.
Why Does SEDNA Not Filter for SPAM?
Junk email can be frustrating, but traditional email systems, such as Outlook, apply filters after messages have been received in your organization. This can result in legitimate business emails being sent to the Junk Mail folder and missed.
SEDNA operates differently. Instead of applying junk email filters in SEDNA, your organization's SPAM filtering software should be configured to prevent real SPAM emails from reaching any of your internal mailboxes and, thus, forwarded to SEDNA.
If You Are Still Receiving SPAM / Junk Email in SEDNA
Many SEDNA customers have configured a (blue) Category Tag called "Junk". This allows your IT team to run a search in SEDNA to identify emails which have passed your internal filters and made it to SEDNA, allowing them to optimize their SPAM filter software to detect and block such emails in future. After changes have been made to optimize the SPAM filter the messages in SEDNA can be deleted by users with a IT Support role.
