Automatic tagging (auto tagging) is the process of assigning one or more job reference tags, category tags or person tags automatically to a message.
How do I auto tag on message I send?
1. Message duplication
At the time of duplication, the new duplicate will inherit all tags (job reference, category and person) that were associated with the original message that it was duplicated from.
2. Message forward (outbound)
At the time of the creation of the message forward, the new message forward will inherit job reference and category tags that were associated with the original message that it was used to generate the forward.
This is a company-level configurable option that is enabled on the backend as per the IT admin request by the Sedna Support team.
3. Message reply/reply all (outbound)
At the time of the creation of the message reply, the new message reply will inherit job reference and category tags that were associated with the original message that it was used to generate the reply.
This is a company-level configurable option that is enabled on the backend as per the IT admin request by the Sedna Support team.
How do messages I recieve auto tag?
1. Reply Tagging
On receipt of a message, Sedna checks the 'in-reply-to' email header, if that value matches a known outbound message, then the inbound message will inherit job reference and category tags that were associated with the original outbound message.
This is a company-level configurable option that is enabled on the backend as per the IT admin request by the Sedna Support team.
2. Workflows
In this scenario, job reference tags, category tags and person tags can be applied to the messages that match the rules created in the Workflow UI. This feature is fully managed by the user who created these rules and can be easily adjusted or deleted.
6. Coded Auto Tagging
A Coded Auto Tagger in Stream is rule-based code that runs during the message ingest process. These rules can be custom to a company and also to each team.
The system automatically applies Job Reference Tags based on defined key details. It compares data in the subject lines and in the Job Reference Tags.
The following flowchart provides a visual example of the decision-making process used by an auto-tagger. It illustrates how emails are evaluated and tagged based on specific criteria.
Your team may have its own Custom Coded Auto Tagger and the details of this should be available to you by your system administrator.
Please note, auto-taggers are administered by the Sedna technical team and are not accessible directly by our customers. A Sedna end user can't create, adjust or delete the auto-tagging rules.
External tagging solutions
Sedna exposes a public API that allows third-party processes to add tags to and remove tags from messages. Please see your system administrator to understand if you have any third party auto tagging active.
