Seamlessly compose a Message in Sedna when you click mailto: links across the web.
Now, you can make Sedna your default email handler for all mailto: links, keeping your email experience in one place.
Mailto: allows website visitors to quickly and easily send an email to any address specified within a link on the webpage. These can also be auto-populated with CC and BCC recipients, a subject line, and body text.

Instructions for All Browser Types
Chrome
If you see the protocol handler icon in your Chrome URL bar:
- Open Sedna in a browser page
- Click on the protocol handler icon in your URL bar
3. Click “Allow”
4. Open the Mail app on your work laptop
5. In the menu bar, click Mail > Settings
6. Change the default email reader to Google Chrome (you'll have to click "Select" on the dropdown and find the Chrome application)
If you do not see the protocol handler icon in your Chrome URL bar:
- Head to chrome://settings/handlers
- Select "Sites can ask to handle protocols."
- Then head back to Sedna and click “Allow” on the protocol
Safari
No matter which webmail service you use, if you're on Safari, you'll have to fall back on an extension. We recommend you search “Mailto for Safari” to explore the existing options.
Microsoft Edge
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Click the three dots (⋯) in the top-right corner and choose Settings.
- Navigate to Cookies and Site Permissions.
- Scroll down and click All Permissions.
- Click on: Protocol handlers
- Toggle ON:
- Allow sites to ask to become default handlers for protocols (recommended)
Authorize Sedna to handle mailto Links

- Open Sedna in a new tab in Microsoft Edge.
- Look for the protocol handler icon in the address bar (a double diamond or overlapping squares symbol).
- Click it.
- Select “Allow” to enable Sedna to handle mailto: links by default.
Set Edge as the Default Email Reader in Windows

Open the Mail app on your work laptop.

In the menu bar, go to Mail > Settings (or find settings via the gear icon).

Locate the Default Email Reader setting.

Change it to Microsoft Edge.

(You may need to manually select the Edge application from your system.)
