Overview
Sedna allows super users to control whether category tags automatically copy onto replies.
This is important because different workflows use category tags in different ways:
- Task-based workflows often rely on tags that show the status of a message (e.g., Completed, Paid). These tags usually should not be copied across a thread, because they only apply once a milestone has been reached.
- Other category tags that are used to add context, such as crew changes or on subs, benefit from tags carrying through automatically, so the entire thread stays grouped and visible under the right tag.
Previously, Sedna managed two separate settings for outgoing and incoming replies. With this update, those behaviours are consolidated into one setting at the individual tag level. You can now decide, tag by tag, whether it should copy onto replies (both sent and received).
Who is this available for?
- This feature is managed by Sedna. Whether it is visible in your environment depends on how your system has been configured.
- If you’re unsure, contact Sedna Support. We can confirm your current settings and advise if this feature is available to you, or if it would add value for your team’s way of working.
When you will see the option in Category Tag Manager
| Your setup | Will you see the option? | What to do next |
|---|---|---|
| Auto-copy of category tags is enabled across your whole company | ✅ Yes, the option will be visible | You can decide tag by tag whether to keep or disable auto-copy |
| Auto-copy is enabled for your team only | ⚠️ Sometimes – may appear for some teams but not others | Ask Support to confirm which teams have it active |
| Auto-copy is not enabled in your environment | ❌ No, the option will not be visible | Contact Support if you want to explore enabling this feature |
How to configure
Step 1: Access Tag Settings
- Go to Settings > Category Tag Manager.
- Find the category tag you want to configure.
Step 2: Configure Reply Behaviour
- Toggle Auto-apply this tag… on or off depending on whether you want the tag to copy onto replies (both outgoing and incoming).
Step 3: Save Changes
The Result
After completing these steps:
- Tags you disable will not auto-copy onto replies.
- Tags you enable will consistently copy onto replies you send and receive.
- Your team can reduce tagging errors, keep milestone tags (e.g., Completed, Paid) accurate, and still benefit from context tags (e.g., Crew Change, On Subs) that help organise whole threads.
