Troubleshooting & Common Questions
Q: Can I customise the tone or style of replies?
A: Yes. Use a prompt like “make it concise” or “use a friendly tone” to guide how the AI responds.
Q: Can I summarise and translate the same message?
A: Yes. You can use both features together by generating one output, then adjusting your prompt to request the next action (e.g., summarise first, then translate).
Q: Why isn’t the translation or summary appearing?
A: Check that your prompt is clear and that the message is public or in a shared space. If needed, rephrase your prompt for clarity.
Q: Why can’t I use AI Email Assist on a new message?
A: Make sure the message is public or in a shared inbox. Private messages or drafts in solo inboxes will not work.
Q: Is Sedna storing any of my prompts or responses from the model?
A: No, the prompts and responses are not stored, for statistical purposes, Sedna logs: tenant, message, and response ID, along with a timestamp and token amounts in/out.
Q. Does the AI have access to the whole inbox? Or all the inboxes I have access to?
A: Neither! Once you open the app, the AI model only has access to the email currently open in Sedna. The Sedna user and email content is sent to the model, and a response is generated/returned. During transit, data is processed in ephemeral memory, meaning, after processing is complete, the data/memory is cleared, not stored.
Q: Is my data secure when using these features?
A: Yes. AI Email Assist is powered by a private instance of Claude 3 Sonnet hosted in Sedna’s AWS infrastructure. The model only processes the open message. Nothing is stored – all prompts and responses are handled in temporary memory and deleted immediately after use.
Best Practices & Tips
- Be specific in your prompts (e.g., "translate to Spanish using a formal tone")
- Summarise before replying to better understand long threads
- Use bullet summaries for handovers and action tracking
- Use paragraph summaries when context is needed, but brevity matters
- Always review translations or summaries before sharing externally
