How to Use LLI Vessel Data in Pulse
In this section, you'll learn how to access enriched vessel data powered by Lloyd’s List Intelligence (LLI) directly within your Tonnage list.
What Is LLI Vessel Data?
LLI provides detailed vessel specifications and operator insights. This new data layer enhances Pulse with commercial context, helping you evaluate opportunities faster and with more precision.
You’ll now see a richer, more complete view of vessels in your Tonnage list, enabling deeper insights and smarter filtering – without leaving Pulse.
What’s Included?
For each vessel, LLI data provides the following enriched fields:
- IMO
- Third-Party Operator
- Commercial Operator
- Flag
- Year Built
- Hull Design
- Net Tonnage (NT) / Gross Tonnage (GT)
- Beam / LOA / Draft / TPC
- Geared (Yes/No)
- Bale Capacity / Grain Capacity / Ore Capacity
- # Hatches / # Holds
- These fields are fully customisable – you decide which ones to show.
When Should I Use This?
Use LLI vessel data to:
- Get a clearer picture of the vessel’s specs and suitability
- Identify the commercial or third-party operator at a glance
- Filter down to only geared vessels or specific capacity types
- Validate tonnage against your trade requirements
- Speed up vetting without switching platforms
How to Enable LLI Fields in Your View
- Step 1:
- Go to Your Tonnage List
- Open Pulse
- Navigate to the Tonnage module
- Step 2: Open Column Display Settings
- In the top-left corner, click Preferences
- Go to the Column Display section
- Step 3: Add LLI Fields
- Scroll down the list of available fields
- Drag and drop any LLI data points you want to include (e.g. “Operator”, “Year Built”, “Grain Capacity”)
- Rearrange, pin, or hide fields as needed
- Step 4: Save Your Preferences
- Once you're happy with the view, click Save
- Your Tonnage list will now reflect the enhanced data set
Note: Preferences are saved per user. You can update or change them anytime to reflect your current focus.
Best Practices & Tips
- Use beam/draft/LOA filters to match vessel specs with port or berth constraints
- Prioritise Operator fields to understand who commercially controls the vessel
- Use Geared (yes/no) to quickly assess cargo-handling ability
- Track specific capacity types (e.g. Grain or Ore) relevant to your trades
- Combine with saved filters for faster repeat searches
Troubleshooting & Common Questions
Q: I don’t see the new fields in my list – what should I do?
A: Make sure you’ve added the LLI fields under Preferences → Column Display and clicked Save.
Q: Can I export this enriched data?
A: Yes. Once the LLI fields are visible in your table, they’ll also be included in any .csv exports via the Download button.
Q: Is this data available for all vessels?
A: LLI data is matched based on IMO. If the vessel in your Tonnage list has a matching IMO, the enriched fields will appear.
