Understanding the Important Counter in Stream

The Important view in Sedna includes a live counter – showing you exactly when new priority messages, comments or notifications arrive.

Important messages are always visible and backed by a live notification counter. This makes it easier to spot and act on high-priority updates without needing to create a custom search.

This real-time indicator makes it easier to spot and respond to critical updates immediately, without needing to refresh or manually check the view.

When to Use This Feature

Use the Important counter to stay on top of your most time-sensitive and high-priority communications. It’s especially useful for operational teams handling large message volumes or working in fast-paced environments where speed matters.

Step-by-Step: How the Important Counter Works

Step 1: Locate the Important View

• Open Sedna on desktop or mobile

• The Important view is pinned to the top of your sidebar

  (On mobile, it appears at the bottom of the screen – with the live counter clearly visible.)

  

Step 2: Watch for the Live Counter

• A live counter displays the number of unread messages, comments or notifications in the Important view
• The counter updates automatically as new items arrive

Step 3: Click to Action

• Click into the Important view to open unread items
• Messages shown here may include:
  • Followed messages
  • Messages tagged with Important Job or Contact Tags
  • Messages meeting other criteria flagged as Important

Step 4: Customise and Save (Optional)

• The Important view behaves like a Live Search
• You can apply additional filters or save a variation
• It does not count towards your 10 Live Search limit

Q: What qualifies a message as Important?

A: Messages you follow, or those linked to Important Job or Contact Tags, will show in the Important view.

Q: Does this replace the Focus Live Search?

A: No. It offers similar benefits but with improved visibility and a built-in counter – without needing manual setup.

• Use the Important view to replace manual “urgent” searches
